Two Honeys, Two Characters

At Haydara, citrus and clover honey are two of our most popular varieties — and for good reason. Both are sourced from Fayoum, both are raw and traceable, but they offer very different experiences on the palate and in your daily routine.

With a fresh batch of both now in bottling, this is the perfect time to understand what sets them apart.

Citrus Honey

Source: Egypt's citrus groves — orange, lemon, and mandarin blossoms.

Color: Light golden, sometimes almost pale.

Aroma: Fresh, floral, with a subtle citrus brightness.

Taste: Clean sweetness with a light tangy finish. Not heavy, not cloying.

Texture: Tends to be smoother and more liquid when fresh.

Best for: Morning rituals — a spoonful in warm water, drizzled over yogurt, or mixed into lemon tea. Its lightness makes it ideal for everyday use without overpowering other flavors.

Clover Honey

Source: Egyptian clover fields (berseem), one of the country's most widespread crops.

Color: Medium gold, slightly deeper than citrus honey.

Aroma: Mild, warm, with a soft floral quality.

Taste: Smooth, creamy, and gently sweet. A comforting, familiar flavor.

Texture: Slightly thicker, creamy mouthfeel. Crystallization occurs a bit faster than with citrus honey.

Best for: Breakfast spreads, baking, tea, and gifting. Clover honey is versatile — it works in almost any context. Many families keep it as a daily staple.

Which One Should You Choose?

If you enjoy a lighter, more refreshing honey — try citrus honey. If you want something smooth, comforting, and all-purpose — go for clover honey. And if you can't decide, try both. Many of our customers keep one of each at home.
